The “Revive Time: Kaki Tree Project” is an art project through
which people can learn about peace and the importance of life.
kaki tree in Nagasaki miraculously survived the atomic bombing in 1945. The purpose of our project is to hand out saplings from the mother tree to children around the world and encourage them to express themselves through art with a theme of a kaki tree as they grow the saplings. Art cultivates the imagination to help us feel others’ pain and creativity to build a new world. It goes beyond borders, religion, race and even language, and helps us feel sympathy for each other. We have been carrying out the project around the globe for 20 years, and planted the seeds of art, the seeds of peace into the hearts of 30,000 children who have taken part.
「時の蘇生・柿の木プロジェクト」は、
平和と命の大切さを学ぶアートプロジェクトです。
1945年、長崎で被爆しながらも奇跡的に生き残った一本の柿の木。
その母木から生まれた「被爆柿の木2世」の苗木を
世界中の子どもたちに手渡し、
柿の木をテーマにしたアート表現をしながら育ててもらうものです。
アートには他者の痛みを想像する力、
新しい世界を創造する力が宿っています。
それは国や宗教、人種や言葉さえも乗り越え共感を与えるもの。
私たちはこの活動を、20年にわたって世界中で続け、
参加してくれたのべ3万人の子どもたちの心の中に
アートの種、平和の種を蒔いているのです。
